Whole Grains
One of the most widely known benefits of whole grains is their impact on the body’s digestive system.
Below is the description of one of the many studies on whole grains and the digestive system.
- The National Institutes of Health-AARP Diet and Health Study, a prospective cohort study, examined food questionnaires from 489,611 U.S. adults ages 50 to 71. The study, published in the peer-reviewed American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, found that as whole grain intake increased, the risk of developing colorectal cancer decreased. The decrease was greater for the risk of rectal cancer. Find the full study here.
